On September 13, 2019, DVA’s President Bob Isaacson got on a jumbo jet in San Diego and flew to Hanoi, Vietnam, the first leg of his trip. After a short stop in Tokyo, he was greeted at the Hanoi airport some 20 hours later by the Venerable Thich Thanh Huan, who is serving as the Director of DVA’s Vietnam Project.
VIETNAM
DVA President Bob Isaacson and the Director of our Vietnam Project, the Venerable Thich Thanh Huan, had an all-day meeting on Bob’s first day in Asia on this trip, Sunday, September 15, 2019, at the historic Pháp Vân Pagoda where the Venerable is the abbot. With the help of interpreter Son Pham, Bob and the Venerable discussed a new plan to spread DVA’s message to the approximately 15,000 Pagodas in Vietnam.
Also on Bob’s first day in Vietnam, at the Pháp Vân Pagoda, with the Venerable Director of our Vietnam Project at an exhibit of Indian Buddhist art.
During his 4th day in Vietnam, Bob and Venerable Thich Thanh Huan, the Director of DVA’s Vietnam Project, agreed to add an additional 10 Pagodas in the greater Hanoi area to our Project. Le Sen (pictured on the far left), the Chairperson of the Events Committee will create an agenda for each Pagoda.
Myanmar
Bob Isaacson, Heng, DVA’s Myanmar Chapter Leader, and our driver Aung Thu, at the famous Shwedagon Pagoda, an international Buddhist landmark, in Yangon, Myanmar. They will leave today to visit veg monastics within a six-hour radius of Yangon.
On Sunday, September 22nd, 2019, Bob, Heng, our Myanmar Chapter Leader, and Aung Thu, a Chapter member, visited the Buddhist landmark, the Golden Rock, on their way to make an important connection later in the day.
Thailand
Bob met again with one of Thailand’s biggest supporters of DVA and animals, the Venerable Dhammananda. The Venerable enthusiastically agreed to be one of our speakers at DVA’s Fourth Annual Asian Buddhist Animal Rights Conference in Bangkok late next year.
